A few days ago, the French Bread Festival was hold as scheduled.
In this feast, Chinese Mantao stood out among the baked goods and attracted everyone's attention.
Not only that, but the lovely, and unique mantao are also known as “Mantao” in English.

前阵子，法国面包节如期展开。

在面包节中，中国馒头在一众烘焙品中脱颖而出，吸引了大家的注意。不仅如此，雪白可爱，独树一帜的馒头，居然还有着独特的英文名：“Mantao”。

网友更是笑称：“咱们的中国馒头也是见过大世面了。”

As one of China's traditional pasta, Chinese Mantao show their own unique charm and value on the French Bread Festival, even on the international stage.
In fact, not only mantao, more and more Chinese cuisines such as“Haidilao” and“Malatang”have  spread for overseas, and won the praise of overseas people.
This is not only an affirmation of Chinese cuisine, but also an affirmation of Chinese culture.

中国馒头作为中国的传统面食其一，此次登上法国面包节，在国际舞台上展现出自己自身独特的魅力与价值。

其实不仅仅是馒头，越来越多的中国美食，例如“海底捞”“麻辣烫”也面向海外，并获得了海外人民的一致好评。

这不仅仅是对中国美食的一种肯定，也是对中国文化的一种肯定。

Perhaps you have noticed that the name“Mantao” has changed in recent years, which has many elements of Chinese culture. 
For example, the Dragon, originally translated as“Dragon”, now is more and more used as“Loong” rather than“Dragon”.
或许，你是否注意到馒头洋气而又不失本义的英文名“Mantao”。许多具有中国文化的元素的英文在近些年也悄悄发生了变化。例如，原先被翻译作“Dragon”的龙，现在在越来越多场合中不再是“Dragon”，而是“Loong”。

So What's the difference between Dragon and Loong? 
In foreign cultures, the image of dragon is very different from what the Chinese understand. Under the influence of myth and legend, the dragon is usually considered a giant monster in foreign countries, is a symbol of evil forces. 
In the Lord of the rings, for example, there is a huge dragon covered with invulnerable armor. The Mythical Warrior is usually the dragon slayer, killing the mythical dragon to show their heroic spirit.
For Chinese people, the dragon is a noble mascot, one of the Chinese zodiac, a good and auspicious image, and even represents the thriving Chinese nation and the Chinese people.

那Dragon和Loong到底有什么区别呢？

在外国文化中，dragon的形象与中国人所理解的龙形象大相径庭。由于受到神话传说的影响，在国外，龙通常被认为是一种巨型怪兽，是邪恶势力的象征。

例如欧洲神话《指环王》中，其中涉及到了一只巨龙身形巨大，身上覆盖着刀枪不入的铠甲。而神话中的勇士通常是屠龙者，杀掉神话中的龙才能彰显自己的英雄气概。

而龙在中国人的眼中，是尊贵的吉祥物，是十二生肖之一，是吉祥美好的意象，更甚至代表着蓬勃发展的中华民族与奋勇前进的中华人民。

For example, Jiaozi, originally translated as“Dumpling”, has gradually been replaced by Jiaozi.
“Dumpling” in English means anything with a filling wrapped in dough, and although it means something similar to a Chinese Dumpling, it is not the same as a Chinese Dumpling.

再比如说，原先被翻译为“Dumpling”的饺子，现在也逐渐被“Jiaozi”一词所取代。

Dumpling在英语中指的是所有用面皮包着馅料的食物”，虽然意思和来自中国的饺子十分相近，但并不能完全同等于中国的饺子。

Why have these changes occurred in recent years? 
Perhaps it has something to do with our growing cultural confidence in recent years.

In the history, the Chinese culture has undergone tremendous changes and is now shining brightly.
Chinese culture, with its unique heritage, is going to the world step by step.

文化是一个国家，一个民族的灵魂，一个国家如果丢失了思想文化这个灵魂，它就无法长久发展。

而随着祖国的繁荣昌盛，国际地位的逐步上升，源远流长，博大精深并不断发展壮大的中国文化正被全世界所见证与认同，中国也越来越重视民族思想与文化在世界范围内的影响力，这些生动鲜明的例子正是我们对文化自信的最佳证明。

“求木之长者，必固其根本；欲流之远者，必先浚其泉源。”

奔流不息的历史长河中，中华文化沧桑巨变，在如今大放光彩。

带有中国特有底蕴的中国文化，正在一步一步走向全世界。
